Invasion

of the crabs!

Hi, Bloggin' Buddies!

I've been so busy with Halloween and Thanksgiving that I almost forgot to make some special treats for our annual crabfeed! It is such a fun night, with us all dressing up in costumes, parading around the lodge and eating way too much Dungeness Crab. Yum! I'm usually in charge of the table decorations (there is a contest!) so I do something fun for a centerpiece and make some type of individual treats for each place setting. I've been known to sneak a couple to the judges, too - just sayin'.......

These charmers are made fro the Lil' Inker Triangle Treat Holder Die, which is super-versatile and easy to put together once you get the hang of it) and The Sack-It Crab die from Taylored Expressions. They weren't made to go together, but it sure worked. Of course, goggly eyes add to the crabby cuteness!

I think there might be a prize in our crusty crabby future!

Thanks for the visit and have a great weekend,

With Sympathy

Hello, Bloggin' Buddies!

Aren't sympathy cards the most difficult of all to make? Each time I need to make one I tell myself that I need to make several ahead of time so that I can avoid the creative process when my heart is so heavy. But it never seems to happen and I do like to make a card specifically for the intended recipient.

Today's card uses a creative "smooched" background using my all-time favorite product, Distress Oxide Inks. I love the depth and colors. I added a diecut in grey ("Earl Grey", Tailored Expressions) made with a cover plate die from Spellbinders (S4-254) and some peal embellishments. The sweet sentiments are from a Neat and Tangled stamp set called "No Words". The inside says "Because there are no words for this". I love it.

Thanks for the visit. I sure hope you are having a good week.

Just Another Crabby Day!

Hi, Bloggin' Buddies!

I have something different to share with you today. We are part of a group that attends our local crab feed every year. Somehow (?!) I've become the person designated to create centerpieces and individual treats for the group. This is the third year (see a previous post here). I've been doing this and I'm running out of ideas! I was seriously challenged this year, but I love what I came up with.

I used some older "Jellybean Large Circle Shaped Shakers" that I had in my stash. I had stopped using them for shaker cards years ago because they made cards too bulky to mail. I'm glad I held on to them! I used a circle die and filled the shakers with "red hot" candies. The crab elements were die cut from a set by Tailored
Expressions called "Sack It - Crab" that is designed to make treat bags. So, I modified it.

After I made the little stand up tents I realized that I needed a counter-weight for the bottom so a dark chocolate bar came to the rescue.

For those of you who do not follow my Facebook page you can see how crazy we are - we even dress in crab costumes for this annual event. Yep, we came up with those, too.

We have way too much fun. Wishing you a not so crabby week and thanks for the visit,
