Spring into Simple

Hello, Bloggin' Buddies!

I have made some progress on working with my new computer operating system and photo program, but I have lost so many of my favorite settings and abilities. All in good time - I consider this an opportunity to exercise my old brain.

This is a little card that screams Spring. I pulled out some old favorites, Hero Arts' Newspaper Tulips (K5576). I used the "brushless water color technique" where the color is added directly to the stamp with Distress Markers, misted with water and stamped. Love the soft look.

Since this is as close to "clean and simple" as I get, I am entering it into A Blog Named Hero's Clean and Simple challenge. I used the Simon Says Stamp stitched rectangle dies. And, because I've used a color I rarely use, I am going to slip it into the Simon Says Stamp Work It Wednesday challenge to use yellow.

Thanks for the visit - have a great week!

Mixing it Up with Ellen

Hello, Bloggin' Buddies:

Happy Sunday! I have been battling with a new operating system (Yosemite for my iMac) and a new photo program. Huge learning curve.

Today I am playing with the Mix it Up Challenge at Ellen Hutson's CLASSroom. This month she is having us mix up a project using her Essentials by Ellen and Avery Elle products. What a great combo!

I need a card for some realtor friends, so I decided to use Ellen's "Home and Hearth" dies designed by the amazing Julie Ebersole. The little houses are so darn cute - I especially love the wonky windows on the third one . I paired them with a beautiful "Simply Said Hello" die by Avery Elle. I used two layers of 110# cardstock and this beautiful gold paper I got at my LSS.

All of this set on a watercolor background. Sorry the photo is askew.....still fighting with the photography at the new house and the glare from the gold paper.

Thanks so much for the visit.

Lovely Lady

Hello. Blogging Buddies!

It has been months since I inked up some of my all-time favorite stamps from Art Impressions. They just make me smile. I wanted to make a special birthday card for a special friend, so it was the time to get these out and color them up.

I made a center step card so my friend cam keep it on her desk. This lady is from one of the Hampton Art sets available at Michael's. The hilarious sentiment is from Girlfriends UM3577.

I also used Die-namics (Party Hat Border) and Spellbinders (Labels) dies. The candles are from an old favorite Hero Arts set, "Big Candles" CL287.

I added sparkle with Wink of Stella and Stickles.

This is going in the current Ai Challenge, "Lovely Ladies" in celebration of a new release of the "Girlfriends" series of funtastic stamps.

Have a wonderful week and thanks for the visit!

Lawnscaping

Hello, Blogging Buddies!

Today I am trying a new-to-me challenge - Lawnscaping Challange, using the always super-cute Lawn Fawn products. Ellen Hutson is sponsoring it and it is all about water coloring and the different ways it can be done.

I used one of my favorite techniques, Laura Bassen's "smooching" technique with Distress Ink pads. I smooched the ink pads on my mat, sprayed with water and dipped the water color paper into the color. Such messy fun!

I used Lawn Fawn's Bright Side Petite Paper Pack and Scripty Thanks die.

Since this card is yellow, I am also adding it to the Simon Says Stamp Work it Wednesday Challenge to incorporate yellow.

I hope there is some sunshine in your day. to those of who who qualify (I, unfortunately, do not), Happy Mother's Day. Thanks for the visit!

Two Peas in a Pod

Hi, Bloggin' Buddies!

My friend needed a baby shower card for twins-to-be and, because she couldn't find anything appropriate in the stores, she came to me.

I knew right away that I needed to reach for my Paper Smooches. For this card I used The Vegtastic and Alphadot sets and the Grocery Cart die.

I hear that this card was the hit of the baby shower! Who wouldn't love those adorable green peas?

I plan to enter this into the Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge, which is "Anything Goes". And, since the card is mainly yellow, I will submit it to the Simon Says Stamp "Work it Wednesday" Challenge, which is to incorporate yellow (a color I don't often use).

Thanks for visit!

Birds of a Feather

Happy Sunday, Bloggin' Buddies!

A quick post this morning to share another of the set of kraft bird-themed cards I am making for my bird-watching friend. For this one I again used an older Hero Arts stamp (H5110, Thank You Card). It has been fun to ink up some of these older stamps for this set - kind of like visiting old friends! Several layers, paper piecing, dimensional and MME "The Sweetest Thing - Bluebell" 6x6 paper are all used here.

I plan to join the multitudes and submit this for the current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge, "Anything Goes". That is always super-popular.

We are off to our favorite Zumba class this morning! Have a great day and thanks for the visit.,
